I first found out about chins from my husband. He is a High School teacher and a co-worker of his has one that she has at school as a class pet. Kevin fell in love with him. He came home and told me about it.
Well, the two of us got on the internet and did a lot of research on them. We found JoAnn, a breeder from Virginia, and called her. After many conversations with her we made up our minds, we were going to get a Chinchilla. We were going to wait til Feburary or March of 2003 to get our first Chin. NOT!! hehe We could not even wait that long.
Our first conversation with JoAnn was around October 11th and we went to pick up Jabber October 19th 2002. We then planned to pick up a little girl chin in Feburary or March. Well, that did not last long either. We had Jabber for about 1 week when I called JoAnn and talked to her about getting a cage mate for Jabber. Well, you can not put a female in a cage with a male or you will have kits. We are not ready for babies right now. We found out that Jabber's brother Evil Knevel was for sale, so we bought him. Jabber and Evil were only apart for 2 weeks so it was perfect. They had a little rough start but within 24 hours the two of them were in one cage together. So then we combined the two cages and made a mansion for the two to enjoy. Well not even a month passed by before we decided to get our girls. I went to pick up Jasmine Skye and Liberty Starr December 20, 2002. So, as you can tell, chins are addictive. They are so cute that one is just not enough!!
